FAQS

What does NG, RS, MASS, MASD stand for?

NG - Nancy Greene
RS - Rising Stars
MASS - Manitoba Alpine Ski Series
MASD - Manitoba Alpine Ski Division

When and where is training?

Nancy Greene and Rising Stars training takes place at Springhill Winter Park on Tuesdays from 6:30pm - 9:00pm and Saturdays from 10am - 1pm. There is a one day program as well for Tuesdays or Saturdays only for $250.

Training does not include lift tickets. Springhill usually gives the kids a reduced rate on a season pass or individual passes may be purchased.

NG and RS have two weekend races scheduled this year, one at Bottineau, ND and another at La Riviere, MB.

MASS students (K1 and K2) train some Tuesdays at Springhill Winter Park and at Asessippi Resort on the weekends. Please refer to the calendar for all events.

My child hasn't skied before, does that matter?

No. Our coaches will take anyone and turn them into a skier!. Skiers over the age of 9 who are new to skiing can register in the All mountain shredder program and will advance to racing as their skills develop.

When do we start?

As soon as Springhill is open and the snow is on the ground! We end the third week of March.

Where do I get equipment?

Both Gord's and Sampsons have lease programs for junior skiers as well as new equipment for purchase.

Will we ski in cold weather?

There is a section on our website with guideline for cold weather. Follow the Cold Weather link.

What is the volunteer/fundraising commitment?

The club requires volunteering at two bingos throughout the year. There is also volunteers needed on race day as the parents put the races on. All volunteer training is provided by the club if needed. Volunteering is a great way to meet other parents and interact with the racers.
